eAxle with Silicon Carbide (SiC) Technology

The new Bosch eAxle with SiC technology achieves up to 96% efficiency and increased power density.


The technology approach for the eAxle is derived from system-based optimization, which focuses on efficiency, power density and cost. A leap forward in capability is achieved through the use of new semi-conductor technology, whose full potential is reached through Bosch’s unique multi-domain development approach. In addition, the new system features an integrated housing, a downsized electric motor, and a system-optimized transmission. Flexible packaging and minimized interfaces allows for simplified vehicle assembly.

Hybridization Solutions for 48V Systems

Fewer CO2 emissions, more efficiency and driving fun.


With the 48V hybrid system, Bosch facilitates entry to powertrain electrification for passenger cars. The system enables electric driving modes for coasting, traffic jam assist or highly-automated parking. This helps to considerably reduce fuel consumption and local emissions. Electrical energy, which is gained through recuperation, is utilized to supply the electrical 48V power net as well as charge the 48V battery. Driving a car equipped with this system is not only more efficient, but also more fun to drive thanks to additional torque.

The system solution for 48V hybrid vehicles comprises highly-efficient and compact components which can be adapted to various segments. With unique competence in both product development and system application, Bosch can offer its customers a comprehensive product portfolio and extensive system solutions for a wide variety of topologies, depending on the respective requirements. High-voltage Hybrid Systems

High-voltage hybrid systems combine the advantages of efficient injection systems and resource-saving electric drive systems.


In a high-voltage hybrid, both the electric motor and the combustion engine can lead drive power into the powertrain, either together or separately. That way, combustion-powered, hybrid and purely electric propulsion are all possible. Especially in conjunction with a regenerative brake system, fuel consumption and local CO2 emissions can be significantly reduced. The full torque of the electric motor is available immediately, which guarantees driving enjoyment from the first second.

With its high-voltage hybrid system, Bosch offers a uniform system solution for various passenger car topologies. It enables hybrid boosting and charging with the combustion engine switched on as well as regenerative braking and fully electric driving without the combustion engine. Depending on the chosen topology, various drive power and torque options are available in practical operation. Bosch enables this technology by providing the key components such as an electric motor, power electronics and a vehicle controller.

Continuously Variable Transmission for Electric Vehicles (CVT4EV)

The pushbelt continuously variable transmission dedicated for electric vehicles (EV) enables the e-motor to run at optimal operating conditions, leading to lower energy consumption.


Efficiencies gained from this technology enable extended driving range or reduced battery capacity. It also allows you to downscale the e-machine without compromising vehicle performance. CVT4EV enables faster acceleration, improved towing and hill-climb and reaches top speeds more quickly. Reduced e-motor speed, smooth shifting without torque interruption and excellent NVH performance make this CVT the multi-speed solution in terms of comfort and user experience. Multiple driving modes offer an enhanced user experience.

Bosch provides multiple components for the CVT4EV system solution. The same powertrain components can be used for different use cases, which provides a higher flexibility leading to a cost-efficient solution. The packaging and pushbelt selection is flexible and can be based on the KPI (performance, efficiency, e.g.) of the customer.

Pushbelt CVT is a proven and highly appreciated transmission type, one out of four automatic cars worldwide is a CVT. It is an excellent multi-speed option for EVs.

Virtual Visor

The Virtual Visor blocks the sun, not your view!


The sun causes twice as many car accidents as any other weather-related condition due to temporary blindness. Traditional sun visors block the sun, but also block large areas of the driver’s field-of-view. The Bosch Virtual Visor is an intelligent, hands-free solution to the problem of blinding sun glare. The Virtual Visor replaces the traditional vehicle sun visor with a transparent liquid crystal display.

Bosch’s new innovative Virtual Visor is the first of its kind. Unveiled at CES 2020, this award-winning technology provides a more comfortable and safer driving experience by increasing the user’s vision by up to 90% in sun glare driving scenarios.

The Information Domain Computer from Bosch bundles the computational power of instrument clusters, infotainment units and more into one powerful electronic control unit.


The Bosch IDC drives an increasing number of displays and operating systems so that all the information can be coordinated and displayed for a seamless user experience in the vehicle. The information domain computer not only increases efficiency by bundling functions, but also optimizes costs due to less space, wiring heat and energy consumption for in-vehicle technology.

12.3” Reconfigurable Digital Instrument Cluster

The reconfigurable digital instrument cluster is the quintessential large, driver-centric display in the vehicle cockpit, which prominently features vehicle information.


The instrument cluster is fully equipped with industry leading features such as 3D Human Machine Interface (HMI) technology, Firmware-Over-The-Air (FOTA) upgrades, and enhanced automotive Cybersecurity and Safety compliance with ISO21434 and ISO26262. However, it is the user experience design that sets the instrument cluster apart with heavy focus on customizability and simplicity. Perfectly Keyless

Precise wireless localization and secure key management


Perfectly keyless is a keyless vehicle access system offering the driver greater convenience and flexibility. Both passive vehicle access and start are controlled by a digital key on the mobile phone requiring no action on part of the driver. Precise and reliable key localization makes it possible to securely lock, unlock and start the vehicle securely. An app allows the vehicle owner to grant other users access to their vehicle.

Today’s keyless entry systems still feature a physical key fitted with a chip, drivers still have them in their pocket or handbag. The first app-based digital access systems are now being used to eliminate the inconvenience of keeping track of car keys. However, with perfectly keyless simply having a smartphone in one’s pocket is enough. The vehicle access system automatically unlocks the vehicle as soon as the driver and smartphone come close. There is no need for a key, chipcard, or swipe of the smartphone touchscreen. Perfectly keyless enables use cases beyond vehicle access now and in the future. CO-simulation of SYsteMs (COSYM) Simulation & Integration Platform

COSYM is a powerful simulation and integration platform.


This tool makes it possible to test and validate software at system level in the early phase of its development, when readying it for deployment in production (virtual ECUs), and when implementing it in real ECUs. COSYM supports all stages of ECU software development and works on a wide variety of platforms.

The requirements for autonomous driving call for new approaches in most areas of software development and system verification and validation.The traditional way of validating software using test drives or even Hardware-in-the-Loop test benches simply cannot provide the millions and millions of miles required to validate a system. COSYM supports this and many other ADAS use cases by allowing integration of plant models from various sources, single control functions, or even complete virtual ECUs. Furthermore, COSYM provides sophisticated network simulations for automotive buses and supports deployment and simulation on different computation platforms, locally as well as in the cloud.

Servolectric® fail-operational electric power steering system

For safe and highly automated driving.


The Servolectric® electric power steering (EPS) system controls and assists the steering of vehicles by means of an electronically controlled electric motor. Through its electronic interface, the fail-operational version of the Servolectric® functions as an enabler for highly automated driving as defined by SAE level 4. Thanks to its redundant system design, the EPS fail-operational makes highly automated driving possible with maximum safety. In the unlikely event of a fault in the electronics, a second, completely independent electronic circuit continues to provide steering functionality, with at least 50% of steering assistance being retained.

Advanced Rider Assistance Systems (ARAS) for Motorcycles

Bosch is working to ensure maximum safety for all motorcyclists.


Motorcyclists are still the most vulnerable road users and face up to 20 times higher risk of dying in an accident than car drivers. Bosch is addressing this reality with a comprehensive three-step safety concept: Vehicle stability, connected environment, and predictive safety and comfort. ARAS uses innovative surround sensing radars for functionalities such as adaptive cruise control (ACC), forward collision warning (FCW), and blind spot detection (BSD) to make riding safer and more comfortable. ACC adjusts the vehicle speed to the flow of traffic and maintains the necessary safe following distance. FCW detects if another vehicle is dangerously close, and BSD warns the rider if there is a vehicle in the rider’s blind spot.

ARAS offers a solution to help achieve accident free mobility solutions in the two wheeler market in particular. Motorcyclists are still some of the most at risk operators on public roads, and ARAS’ ACC, FCW, and BSD focuses on reducing these risks and hazards. This product could help set new standards for motorcycle safety. ARAS not only improves convenience for the rider, it also makes the ride safer and more stress free while not impacting the thrill of the ride.

Plug-On Smart Motor Controller

The Bosch Plug-On Smart Motor Controller transforms a standard motor (seat, interior, etc.) into a smart motor.


The Plug-On Smart Motor Controller provides the motor with speed control and anti-pinch/anti-trap protection for a motor-driven seat adjustment or an interior motor driven component. This technology also provides the motor with pulse width modulation (PWM) for speed control while reducing system wiring and electromagnetic compatibility emissions. There is a local interconnect network (LIN) line connection into the controller so communication with other devices (i.e. body controller and smart phone) can be supported. 

In many automotive interior applications today, bulky electronic control units (ECU) are used for items like second and third row, easy entry functions, moving console, etc. The Plug-On Smart Motor Controller opens up valuable real estate within the vehicle’s interior by packaging the controller with the motor. Many of these interior functions today do not provide anti-pinch/anti-trap technology.

For example, many front row easy entry systems today will continue to move the seat backwards into the rear seat occupants area, and does not stop if an occupant or item is in its path. Bosch’s Plug-On Smart Motor Controller with its small foot print, anti-pinch/anti-trap, PWM and LIN technology eliminates many short falls of today’s larger stand alone ECUs.


The SmartphoneHub by Bosch eBike Systems revolutionizes the electric bike computer.


This technology allows riders to use their smartphone as the control center. Riders can mount a smartphone to their eBike and use the COBI.Bike app as their dashboard, while using the device’s integrated thumb controller to navigate features from their handlebars as they ride. SmartphoneHub can even be used without a smartphone to control basic eBike functionality.

Bosch is helping eBike riders stay connected to the digital world even when on the road. SmartphoneHub brings the ease of exploring cities by eBike even further by simplifying commutes with connectivity – on-board navigation brings riders the best routes direct to their handlebar, fitness goals are easily tracked and paired with popular apps like Strava and Apple Health, and audio streaming through Spotify makes every commute exciting.
